Thank you, Marketing!

First of all, I really enjoyed the marketing course this semester thanks to my professor Tina and her wonderful lectures.😃

Before I take this course, honestly I didn't have any knowledge about marketing so when I thought about setting up business, it seemed like such a big deal and also a tough job. However, my view of marketing has incredibly changed. With good plans using knowledge, marketing is something I can enjoy and it is worth a try for business.

From this course, I've learned about every detail about marketing such as target market, retailing, pricing, market research, marketing communications and customer relationship management, etc.

Mostly, I have learned that marketing is about people and the goal of every marketing strategy is to make my customers be happy with my services or products. Also, I feel confident that I can make a good manager or entrepreneur when I go back to work in the nearest future.

5 years later, when I think of this course, my key take-away will be target market and customer relationship management which are about people.

Thank you, marketing!

Emails from brands

Mostly I get emails from Fido.
From time to time, I feel a little annoyed about emails from them, but I know that some information is useful.
Even though I don't think sending emails is personalized, it would be better if it can be personalized connection from individual managers or someone like them.
I bet it would be effective for companies to send some coupons through emails on customers' birthdays so that they make more loyalty customers.
For me, the emails from Fido are useful to pay before the bill due.

Retailing Mix

I know one struggling place of 'Pizza Pizza' in Toronto.
Even at lunchtime, it usually has few customers.

What is wrong with this place?
It locates in a residential area and there are not many stores near it.

The 'Physical location mix' should be adjusted.
This place should move to central business district or community shopping center for more profitability.

This place is consistent with good retail pricing mix and products and services mix, so if the physical location mix is adjusted, it will not be struggling any more.

The Case of A&W Pricing

When A&W does not use odd-even pricing in the first place, most customers became loyal customers. However, when nearly all of their competitors started to do this, A&W began to lose their loyal customers.

I think this strategy is not successful because it leads to more competitors and less customers after all. It is possible that not using odd-even pricing seems competitive at first, but when others start to do the same, there is no way to beat them.

The attractive advertisement

To be honest, I really enjoy watching TV commercials because this type of advertisement contains sight, sound and motion.

Especially, I love to watch Coca-Cola TV advertising. They make such good TV commercials which show images of Santa Claus or cute polar bears.

Even though I am not much of a soda drinker, when I feel thirsty, I sometimes crave Coca-Cola, not Pepsi. I think this is because I got effected by these commercials. Because of the advertising, I have a good impression of the Coca-Cola product.

In my opinion, television commercials are effective because they repeatedly reach to potential customers and in a short time they can show good aspects of the products. I am sure the more often people see some products, the more familiar they feel with the products.

In the case of Coca-cola TV advertising, the phrase "Taste the Feeling" makes people feel that even if people are just drinking some soda, they can feel something warm or cool.

My favorite brand

I can definitely say that my favorite brand is "Tim Hortons french vanilla coffee". To be honest, I drink this coffee at least 4 times a week.

This consumer product is classified into the CONVENIENCE type!

It is not expensive ($1.99-2.75) and is widely distributed, and I buy it with minimal effort. As I mentioned earlier, I frequently purchase this product.

"Speaking of french vanilla coffee at Tim Hortons, I am so craving this coffee, so I'm off to Timmy now! Haha!"

To become an effective team member

As a human being, we cannot live by ourselves. We'd better always make a good relationship with others not only on a daily basis but also at a work place. What should we do to be an effective team member?

In my case, I am usually trying to be a good listener. Even though I have a firm opinion, I am trying to listen to my teammates' opinions and it actually works to be a good team member.
Also, I am trying to take equal responsibilities on work of my team and complete my parts with effort.
